Wemimo Onikan, VP, Sponsorships & External Relations

Wemimo Onikan, SCMP, is a strategic communications leader with 15+ years of experience across internal and external communications, working with organizations to strengthen communication, shape narrative and drive engagement. Her career has spanned the nonprofit, international development and private sectors, where she has led communications strategy, public relations and media engagement, internal communications, stakeholder communications and organizational change initiatives.

Most recently, Wemimo served as Manager, Internal Communications at Nutrition International, where she led the global internal communications function and advised senior leaders on communicating organizational priorities and change across a geographically dispersed workforce. She is now the founder of Forepath Communications Advisory, providing strategic communications support to organizations and leaders.

Wemimo holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Communications and is a Certified Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP®). She also holds a certificate in Public Relations Strategy from Cornell University.

As Co-VP, Sponsorships & External Relations with IABC Ottawa, Wemimo is focused on building meaningful relationships with sponsors, partners and the broader communications community.
